This morning I designed a simple simulation model in R with a small tcltk interface based on the concepts in the previous two posts. The aim is to allow a prediction of the probable future yield of fuelwood from plots with uncertain planting or survival densities, uncertain diameter distributions and uncertain parameters regarding diameter-height relationships and wood densities.

The model can be run by sourcing the file below into R (install tcltk first). Again this is work in progress and may change as colleagues provide improvement through feedback and new data. The aim is to provide a useful tool for prediction in a highly uncertain environment through giving a probability that a fuelwood or carbon sequestration project’s aims could be met based on known or assumed planting densities and growth rates.
